House Must Allow Vote On Employment Non-Discrimination Act

This last week the Senate finally passed the bipartisan Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which fell just one vote short in 1996. We should not have to wait nearly another 20 years to get the House to vote on it.

Yet, a spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor stated that they were not planning on scheduling a vote. Instead, he chastised the Senate for not passing more bills coming out of the House.

We think we all know why so many House bills have ended up in a black hole in the Senate . . . the unprecedented number of Republican filibusters over the 5 years. So apparently Republicans are in a competition among themselves to see which chamber can be the most obstructionist and spiteful.

Whatever happened to the party of the fair up or down vote? They continue to do everything in their abused procedural power to keep any votes from happening at all.
