Support An Executive Order To Make Federal Contractors Disclose Political Contributions
This is a polite request to members of Congress to sign letters in support of the initiative to get President Obama to require federal contractors to disclose their political contributions.
Pursuant to his responsibility to faithfully execute the laws Congress passes, in particular in the administration of budgetary expenditures, there can be no doubt but that Congress never intended federal contracts to be handed out on a political patronage basis. For that would be corruption, would it not?
Federal contractors have to answer many questions already when they seek government business. There is absolutely no reason why the President wouldn't have the authority to sign an executive order requiring them to disclosure their political contributions in this limited context.
And we, The People, respectfully ask that you, as our senators and representatives, sign one of the letters circulating in Congress right now in support of this.
