In 2000 and 2004 the DNC lack of response was shameful. Make an effort to get adequate #'s of functioning and verifiable machines, stop the push for provisional and abscentee ballots as higher % of those "disappear" and from Dem. strongholds. Finally, get rid of the outdated electoral college. More folks would participate if they thought their vote would count! In my state of Utah, it's pointless in some ways to vote as all electorial votes go to the Rep. candidate so my vote doesn't "count" ********** [035609:101906] M.G., Malden, MA OpedNews.com has reported that in Ohio, the Republicans are at it again. They having been and are currently purging almost exclusively Democratic voters. Rob Kall says Reports indicate that starting as early as shortly after the 2004 presidential elections, but particularly recently, hundreds of thousands of voters-- mostly urban apartment dwellers (likely black) and students-- who are primarily Democratic-- were sent notifications that they would be purged from the eligible voter lists if they did not respond the letter. But, reportedly, the letter was designed to be easily overlooked, perhaps treated as junk mail. Failure to send in a response caused the voter to be removed from the voting roll. Ohio voter rights champion Bob Fitrakis says that, "A federal judge can issue an order to reinstate all the purged voters." After a similar effort in Cleveland in the 2004 election and other election inaccuracies in Florida in 2000, ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN OUR FORM OF GOVERNMENT MUST RALLY TO FIGHT THIS ABUSE OF POWER! ********** [032603:101906] m.k., Mesa, AZ This is another outrage just like the one Ohio betrayed us with in the last presidential election. And why? Because the republians know they cannot win fairly. Disgusting, this lack of honor, character, decency, or honesty. We are not going to stand for this illegal vote tampering again. Those involved will be held to account and prosecuted for their crimes this time. ********** [031345:101906] J.M., Needham Heights, MA Stop the Republicans from stealing another election! Take legal action to restore the purged voters! ********** [031117:101906] T.H., West Chester, OH I wrote to as many people as I could possibly write to after the disparity of the voting machines in the 2004 elections. I was told over and over that it was about "money in districts" and nothing else (in my mostly afluent - uppermiddleclass -mostly republican neighborhood there were over 24 machines (at least) in a one-mile strip alone!). I sent information to the same and other people about other anamolies with precincts merging/closing since 1998/99 (before the 2000 elections and after Ken Blackwell became SOS), many more than had ever been closed in the 20 years that they had records online for, and firmly believe that the 2000 elections were under the radar in voter disenfranchisement (that people saw long lines, and either tried, and left, or just didn't stay). I wrote about the many things that are not right in Ohio.... and was either ignored, or brushed away. This is not a partisan issue - but an issue of making sure that all who are in an elected office work honestly for the people. It is imperiative that all who are in politics, regarless of their party affliation know that the people are not going to be duped anymore. There is much that needs to be investigated in the Ohio State House, and it is imperiative that those in power need to know that they cannot manipulate anything in order to get their way. There must be an immediate lawsuit to reverse the Democratic voter purge in Ohio. Kind Regards. Tracy Horstmann ********** [144450:111506] G.P., Newport, PA With all due respect, this really should be a "no-brainer".Considering all that The USA stands for, every single vote should count and be verified. And considering the last several election's mishaps and suspicious circumstances, nearly every American is questioning validity, their own voting efforts and democracy itself.Having voter's ballots blunderingly dealt with or tampered with is like investing hard-earned money in a scam. The importance of this issue cannot be over-emphasized! Bravo,Bob Fitrakis! ********** [163257:110406] J.B., Ann Arbor, MI Every voter's right to vote is protected by the constitution of our country. Without the right to vote we are not living in a democracy. If a corporation takes away even one voter's vote, that is barring that voter from living in a democracy. In Ohio, the Republican Secretary of State is purging hundreds of thousands of Democratic voters from the rolls of registered voters. The Democratic National Committee must bring every resource to bear to ensure that every voter in Ohio has their chance to vote and that it is counted. ********** [073310:110306] J.W., Worcester, MA Deear Chairmanof National Democratic Committee: I am deeply disturbed about what is going on in your state of Ohio. I can't believe someone in your state is playing around with voter registration lists in heavily democratic areas of your state so that the people of Ohio will not have a fair say in the upcoming midterm elections. I hope you will pursue legal channels to prevent this action immediately. It is bad enough that now all states are up for the taking due to my senator's unwise remarks and have revitalized the Republican Party in places where we were all but sure to win. Ohio has always been a difficult state for us to win and with this sort of behavior in that state one should challenge this inappropriate action in court. This election is vital to the democratic party! Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely Judith Wisboro ********** [232328:110206] D.C., Edmonds, WA To the DNC, As the HBO documentary 'Hacking Democracy' has again demonstrated for all to see that massive voter fraud has happened before in this country, it is therefore obvious that we can expect more of the same with the election next week since the election criminals got away with it the last time so easly. Please bring every resource to bear to verify that the election results are as accurate as possable. For the soul of our nation, this time please do not accept the results, as Kerry did in 2004, if there is any doubt as to the results! It may well be that the survival of the nation and our Constitutional freedoms will depend on your actions following this election. The people and History will judge you harshly if you mess this one up as you did in 2000 and 2004. Alot of lives have been lost because you didn't function as the opposition party should. ********** [170101:110106] R.L., Fairfield, IA WAKE UP And Immediately Seek An Injunction To Reverse The Purge Of Democratic Voters ********** [115014:110106] c.r., Denver, CO Stop massive voter fraud now. Allow Democrats to vote and be counted. ********** [063045:103106] W.M., Winchester, MA It's recently come to my attention that the Secretary of State in Ohio (who is also the GOP nominee for governor) is conducting a massive purge of the voter rolls of registered Democrats. Registered Democrats will have to prove their residency eligibility to combat this purge. There will be no prior notice of this requirement. There are apparently many other irregularities occurring in Ohio. Please cover this story, so voters are aware of the frauds being perpetrated. The frauds committed in Ohio in 2004 cannot be allowed to be repeated. If we do not have honest elections, we no longer have a democracy. ********** [052933:103106] D.T., Los Angeles, CA The RIGHT to vote is the most important right we have as citizens of this country and it's what democracy is all about...how dare the republicans think they have the right to change that...we have moved in a definte repressive direction and I'm not sure we know what a democracy looks like any more. Get the bullies out of Washington and out of all government offices! Thinking about this makes my blood boil and it's hard not to use profanity to describe my feelings!!!! ********** [173543:103006] R.M., Hoboken, NJ Purging voter records is unconstitutional and the full power of the federal government should be brought to bear and those doing this should be arrested ********** [162427:103006] D.G., Brooksville, FL Reports are breaking that the pathologically partisan Ohio secretary of state has been secretly using the master database of voters to systematically purge hundreds of thousands of likely Democratic voters from the registered rolls. Their latest version of an old scam is to put a discriminatory burden on voters in heavily Democratic precincts to meet a special hurdle of verification of their address, a guilty until proven innocent routine. And they have been doing this without any public notice that such a massive operation was underway, and timed in such a way that voters would have no recourse to re-register. This should not be tolerated in America. Every citizen should have the chance to vote. Would you want to have your opportunity to vote taken away from you? If it could happen to them it could happen to anyone. This is supposed to be America, land of the free we are not talking about a Third World Country and yet our votes are getting stolen. ********** [090100:103006] J.H., Marine On Saint Croix, MN Dear Dr. Dean, As a supporter of yours and a democrat who fears for the future of our country I hope you convey to the Leadership of the Party the necessity to do something about the situation in Ohio. ********** [070225:103006] L.R., Decatur, MI Please take all necessary steps to insure we have an honest election in Ohio and the rest of the states. Do not allow any secretary of state to impose undue restrictions on voters. ********** [203206:102906] S.J., Croton On Hudson, NY It has come to my attention that the Secretary of State in Ohio is conducting a massive purge of the voter rolls of registered Democrats. Bob Fitrakis who has been pursuing voter fraud in Ohio has promised to file a lawsuit no later than today. Registered Democrats will have to prove their residency eligibility to combat this purge. There will be no prior notice of this requirement. Please cover this story, so voters are aware of the fraud being perpetrated. The frauds committed in Ohio in 2004 cannot be allowed to be repeated. If we do not have honest elections, we no longer have a democracy. ********** [182343:102906] M.C., Pacific Grove, CA I cannot understand why the Democrats do not take action when the Republicans are purging the Democrats from the voter's rolls. I have to assume that the Democrats do not want to win this election either. The Republicans have been doing this every election for the last 6 years and the Democrats roll over and play dead. On the other hand, I can understand why the Democrats wouldn't want to win these elections and have to clean up the mess the Republicans have made with their help. So why not just give it all up and have a one party system. Think of the money that could be saved on elections and campaign material. Better yet, why don't we just have a dictatorship and not have to worry about anything any more. It is a far more efficient way of destroying everything the United States use to stand for, and then neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have to take any responsibility for anything, which they don't seem to be doing anyway. And business can go on as usual. ********** [170044:102806] S.F., Tiskilwa, IL Voting is a legel right and must not be tampered with. Voting schemes should rightfully be consided as treason. ********** [141845:102806] D.M., Holiday, FL Any comment from any decent and honest person who hasn't been corrupted and doesn't allow fear to determine their actions would be appropriate here. To all cowards, what goes around comes around. ********** [134917:102806] H.G., Tucson, AZ Let the USA continue to set the standards for Democracy and make sure EVERY ELIGIBLE voter can vote. No disenfranchisement because of race, gender or sexual orientation and no harrassment at the polls. ********** [101742:102806] C.H., Gary, IN Stpo the voting outrage in Ohio. Sue for an injunction to restore voters to the rolls. ********** [064238:102806] R.R., Homer Glen, IL We can never take the responsibility of voting casually. This is one of our most sacred institution of our democracy. We cannot expect the Republicans to police their own actions. ********** [084609:102706] R.C., Amherst, MA I keep waiting for the DNC to take action to correct election abuses - we can't hope the GOP will do it. Our democracy is in danger, and it is up to the DNC to save it! ********** |
