Their recommendations are no longer unbiased and by definition of stated mission , a "one size fits all" message for the country's citizens. Clinical nutritionists, such as Certified Clinical Nutritionists (CCN) and other licensed clinical nutritionists, are working from a functional and thus individualized perspective. They have no financial ties to food companies, and truly are able to stick to the science. Sadly, this is not the case with registered dietitians and other designations that fall under their governing board's umbrella. They are required to only utilize the food pyramid and not think 'out of the box' in their consultations and recommendations. A perfect example of this is that hospital and school food is usually abysmal-in taste AND nutrition. Not to mention how ketchup became a vegetable. PLEASE do NOT let them become a monopoly on nutrition. They have played a role in this country's soaring obesity and disease rates.
