There were no terrorists in Iraq to go to war AGAINST, except ones the Bush and Cheney themselves elevated by their reckless occupation. And continuing the occupation there will just breed two more local insurgents for every one they pick off in a photo-op bombing.

It's time for Congress to fufill the promise of the November elections to stop the war in Iraq, and the only assurance we have that they will actually do that is if we CONTINUE to call and write them, again and again, until they finally realize we in fact expect them to do it.

We had to wait for the jury to return their verdict of "Scooter" Libby guilty of four counts of perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice. But the majority of the American people had already reached THEIR verdict that the high crimes of the Bush administration, enough to impeach a dozen presidents, can no longer be tolerated. Says Linda Boyd, Director of the Eastside Fellowship Of Reconciliation (EFOR), "The U.S. is in an illegal war, illegally torturing people, the federal government is illegally spying on US citizens, our constitution is being shredded." And yet, Congress still does not act.

Harry Reid said this about the Libby verdicts, "It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable." Coming from anybody OTHER that the MAJORITY leader of the United States Senate, those words might be taken an expression of exasperated relief. But for us, our exasperation with the Democrats in Congress continues unabated, which is why we the people must press for investigation and impeachment by the best avenue available to us, through courageous state legislatures like Washington state.
